ABRASCI Adoption Process
1) Fill out an application. You can do in one of several ways. You can print it out and then send it back through snail mail (ABRASCI, PO BOX 7582, Bloomington IN 47407-7582). If using this method, we always appreciate an e-mail or phone call telling us you sent it via the mail, as we will then be on the look-out for it -- we don't pick up mail every day. You can also save the form as a text or word-processing document to your hard drive, fill it out on your hard drive, and then send it electronically by either copying it into an e-mail message or sending it as an attachment. If you do this, please title the document with your last name and then app(e.g., smithapp.doc or smithapp.txt).
2) We try to process applications as quickly as possible, but we are an all volunteer organization, as are most rescue groups. For adopting and fostering, we require references and a home visit. This process is not meant to penalize anyone, but rather hopes to ensure that the dog does not end up back in the same situation as when it came to us. We try very hard to match up the right dog with the right home, which is why we ask so many questions on the application. We also take responsibilty for the life of the dog; if you can no longer take care of the dog, we will take it back into our rescue program.
3) When you would like to meet the dog, please let me know your availability and we'll try to set up a meeting. We would like the dog to meet all household members to ensure it is a good match.
