Welcome!
The Clear Creek Township Board and Trustee welcomes you to the Township Website.
This Website was created to explain the Township Government's primary duties as well as additional
programs and activities we have available in our community. Our largest project to date started
December 22, 1999 when the old Smithville School Building was assumed by Clear Creek Township and
re-dedicated as the Smithville Community Center.
This Website will also outline our plans, efforts, and progress to create a full-service community center.
Perry-Clear Creek Fire Protection District Chief Jeff Calabrese presents Clear Creek Trustee Thelma Kelley Jeffries with a plaque thanking the Trustee & Board for their continued support of the Fire District and the Community for which it serves. Presented March 6th, 2007.

NOTICE
2008 - LOSS OF OUR ASSESSING DUTIES.
As of July 1st, 2008 all Township Assessing duties are now transferred to the County Assessor.
Clear Creek Township Trustee and Deputy Trustee are both Level 2 State Certified Assessors/Appraisers. The township office will no longer perform property assessment BUT they will continue to assist taxpayers with their assessment question and problems.
On a personal note, the Trustee states she will miss the opportunity to personally meet with the new land owners to review their assessment to ensure their property assessment is correct. The meeting also provided the opportunity for the Trustee to welcome the new citizen and explain the duties of her office and the availability of services, community activities and social organizations in Clear Creek Township.
2009 – SB 512 WILL BRING THE ELIMINATION OF TOWNSHIP ADVISORY BOARDS
In Clear Creek Township the Township Board plays a very important part assisting the Trustee in her duties. All of our board members have all played apart in local non-profit organizations providing services to the people in our township. All have unselfishly donated numerous hours and the Trustee will never be able to repay them in praise or personal appreciation for their participation and dedication to the positions they hold.
SB 512 WILL PROHIBIT THE HIRING OF FAMILY MEMBERS BY TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES.
Tony Jeffries now serving as Deputy Trustee is the son of Thelma Kelley Jeffries, Township Trustee.
In 1989, both Thelma and Tony ran small food markets in Harrodsburg and Smithville. Both were involved with social activities in their areas such as the Harrodsburg Heritage Days Asso. and Smithville Area Asso. The Township in 1989-90 had planned to return Federal Revenue Sharing money instead of building a Fire Station in Clear Creek Township. Tony was the President of the Perry-Clear Creek Volunteer Fire Fighters. Thelma and Tony had attended several large township meetings at Lakeview School in an attempt to get a motion passed to build the Fire Station. It became clear that if the Fire Station was ever going to be built, citizens needed to elect new Trustee that would push the project forward. Both Tony and Thelma were pushed to run for Township Office. Tony maintained that that since Themla had been a former cheerleader at Smithville High School and was better known throughout the community that she would have the best prospects of being elected. Thelma ran for Trustee and Tony ran for Board member. Both have been re-elected to their office every election since. Thelma and Tony have gone to numerous training and class pertaining to township government and have participated in all aspects of township government for the past 18 years.
In the event SB 512 become law. Tony will no longer be a Township Board member “elected” to his position. Instead at that point he will become an “employee” of the Trustee which will be in violation of SB 512. Again this township will be loosing "another" valuable asset.
